Hi, I’m Tony Tandeski. I’m a digital specialist based in Des Moines, Iowa. I like to keep up-to-date on all things in the digital realm, but when it comes to areas of expertise, I tend to focus on search engine optimization, content marketing, and data analysis.
I bring to the table a unique set of skills thanks to my eclectic career history. I graduated with a Journalism & Mass Communications degree from Drake University. From there, I spent a number of years in the television news industry as both a producer and executive producer. At stations in California and Wisconsin, I wrote and edited broadcast copy, shot and edited video, conducted interviews, updated digital assets, and managed teams of producers and photographers.
Recognizing the future in digital – both in news and in general – I went back to school to learn web design and development. While doing this, I found an opportunity back in Des Moines to work at an advertising agency as a web developer and made the leap. Thanks to my talents in both communications and digital, I progressed from development into a content marketing and SEO role.
I continued to grow my skills as I moved to another agency in the area. While remaining focused on SEO and content marketing, I expanded into paid search strategies with Google AdWords certification and developed my project management abilities.
Never being the type to settle for good enough, I enjoy honing the skills I already have while learning new ones and staying up to date on industry trends.
In my free time, I like to stay involved in and give back to my community. I take part in a number of local organizations including the Des Moines Playhouse, Drake University Central Iowa Regional Advisory Board, Urbandale Community Theatre, WordPress Des Moines, and Make-A-Wish.
With what time I have left, I like to participate in area theatre, travel, write, hang out at coffee shops, grab a beer at local breweries, shoot and edit videos, hike, bike, play video games, or just hang out with my dog, Chace.
Des Moines Playhouse
I enjoy getting involved both on stage and off at the Des Moines Playhouse. I’ve appeared on stage in a number of shows including Young Frankenstein, The Boxcar Children, and Sister Act. I’ve also served on the Hollywood Halloween planning committee for multiple years and am part of both the Playhouse Partners advisory group and Curtain Crowd young professionals group.
Awards: Gypsy Volunteer of the Year award (2016), Cloris Award for Best Youth & Family Ensemble for The Boxcar Children (2017)
Urbandale Community Theatre
I serve on the Urbandale Community Theatre board as the marketing and public relations chair managing the brand, publicity, promotion, and all digital assets. I also built and now manage the organization’s website. I’m also involved on stage and off. I appeared on stage in 2016’s Beauty and the Beast and off stage a stage manager for 2017’s Guys and Dolls.
Drake University Central Iowa Regional Advisory Board
The Drake University Central Iowa Regional Advisory Board is an organization working with the university with a mission to engage alumni in the central Iowa region with programming, mentoring opportunities, and ways to connect. I serve on CIRAB as the marketing chair managing our online presence as well as marketing our events and services.
I have volunteered as part of Make-A-Wish Iowa for several years serving as a wish granter. Wish granters meet with children and families to determine the child’s wish and serve as a point of contact and support throughout the wish granting process.
WordPress Des Moines
I helped to start the WordPress Des Moines user group in the Des Moines metro. As co-founder and now part of a three-person leadership team, I help to keep the organization running, manage digital assets, develop programming opportunities, and secure funding.
